My Niece...

Oh how i love my nieces and nephews. While we were doing the dishes today...one of my nieces decided to tell me that if i died first and she had to survive, she would eat me. She loves me a lot (OBVIOUSLY). I think i got her convinced that i don't taste very good (even though we all know i would be delicious).

Moral of the story: We should all be vegetarian.

I <3 TOFU!!!!

"Love is a verb"

...mind blown.

My Bethy-Pants/Poon/Chollo Adventure

TIMELINE:

I got asked to homecoming by the one and only ALEX POON. woot woot. yaaaaa! And the stands go wiiiiiild.

i'm not going to explain how he asked me. its too confusing and..haha ya.

i answered him today.

He lives in this gated community that is like secluded and the entry thing is dark and thankfully right next to a bank. SOO had my wonderful friend Bethany run and doorbell ditch my answer (yes...obviously) and i turned my lights off to be extra sneaky...so she runs back to the car and i speed away!! i get through the gate and for some reason it escapes my mind to turn my lights back on and there just happens not to be a street lamp anywhere close. Bethany says " this street bends!" or something to that effect. I also remember this and being the genius that i am ( I AM A FREAKIN GENIUS -- Mrs. Snyder)i think i swerve to miss the HUGE, grassy island thing that separates the in gate and the out gate. However, i swerve right into it and do some legit off roading gratefully not hitting any of the trees and shrubbery. (who even likes shrubbery?) I COULDN'T EVEN SEE ANYTHING!! ahhhh. why? because i NEVER TURNED MY LIGHTS BACK ON. ya. soooo i pull into the very conveniently place TCF Bank and check my tires to discover a full flat right front tire. Ohhh my crap.

skip skip skip (boring part)

my mom comes. i learn how to change a tire! (the hard way).

Overall, it was a pretty funny memory...after the initial uhm..negative emotions i felt/expressed.

Afterwards, i got ice cream. I needed some comfort food.

OH. hahaaa. the chollos. i decided to drive with my hazard lights on cuz my little spare donut tire was tiny and i wasn't sure that weak thing was going to do well if i went fast. So i'm driving along, and i comment "it would be embarrassing if i knew anyone that drove past us right now, good thing my car is dirty! maybe it will disguise us." Right then i look to my left to a Burb filled with our G friends from down South. Tatoos. Bandanas. Sunglasses (at night...? I wear my sunglasses at night..so i can, so i can --set that to music) the works! i waved at them. they waved back. They were a friendly bunch.

I lived.

i will post pictures SOOON. Thanks to my mother and her handy dandy iPhone. HOLLLLLLA.

How to Hug

Boyfriendy girlfriendy hugs, where it's not creepy if you sniff the other person's hair, are all very well, but casual platonic hugs in a social context are a totally different animal. In the first 15 minutes of any social event, you learn that some people like to hug, and some prefer to wave dorkily from behind a potted plant and then spill their drink on their feet.

If you are a hugger who hugs everyone from the mailman to your mom with impunity and finesse, then this post is not for you. Go away and hug someone. If, on the other hand, you prepare for a hug as you would for a marathon sporting event ("Oh, we're hugging? Hold on, let me take off my jewellery and put on some sensible shoes!") or have ever accidentally bitten someone because you hugged them with your mouth open, then this post IS for you, and you should read it. There are three simple ways you can adjust your hugging technique, and you'll never again have to awkwardly wipe your saliva off an acquaintance's neck.

1. Angle

The way a hug normally works is that one of your arms goes up, and the other arm goes down, and the corresponding arms on the other person go in the opposite directions, and you both step in and encircle each other with your arms, and a good time is had by all.

How to do it badly: The way a hug works for people who are chronically incapable of normal social interactions is, one of your hug-buddy's arms goes up, and your corresponding arm also goes up, and then you bang your heads together, and you forget about your other arm until it's too late, and then you try to raise it and accidentally punch her in the boob, or your bracelets get tangled in his bow-tie, and you also manage to step on both his feet and kick him in the shins, all at the same time.

How to do it better: According to science, 70-90% of people are right handed. This means that 70-90% of people will raise their right arm and lower their left arm in preparation for a hug. Do the same thing, and you will be able to successfully hug 70-90% of the world. If you are left-handed and this feels unnatural, well, you'll just have to put in a little extra effort, or only ever hug other lefties. Likewise, if you're right-handed and go to hug a lefty, be prepared for some accidental boob-punching.

Avoid stepping on your hug-buddy's feet by standing just a little further away and leaninginto the hug. Do not stand too far away, however, as you will look quite strange.

2. Velocity

How to do it badly: There are two ways you can fail at hug-velocity. The first is by having no velocity. You know when you pick up an insect and it freezes because it thinks you can't see it if it's not moving? Well that doesn't work for bugs, and it won't work for you. Going limp and waiting for it to stop is not an appropriate reaction to being hugged.

On the other hand, sheer nervousness about the impending hug may cause you to overcompensate and move in too quickly, so instead of the affectionate cuddle you were aiming for, you body-slam your friend into the buffet table.

Neither of these are good.

How to do it better: We're looking for a happy medium in velocity here, somewhere between "hippo on a mission" and "fence post." If you're getting out your Hugging Helmet and taking a run-up, you're doing it wrong. You should approach your intended target at a walking pace. Make sure you come to a complete stop before commencing a hug. Plant your feet firmly on the floor, and apply the skills you learned in the first example—right arm up, left arm down, and lean but not too much!

3. Time

How to do it badly: Someone tries to hug you, and you headbutt her in the solar plexus instead. You are so mortified you try to make up for it by giving her an extra-long hug with a bonus back rub. Forty minutes later, she politely asks you to get out of her house, please.

How to do it better: A casual hug should last no longer than the count of one-Mississippi-two-Mississippi. If you're going to add anything fancy like air kissing or shoulder slaps, you should factor it into this time period, and make sure you know your audience. Smacking your lips in your football teammate's ear might not go down so well, and your BFF will not be thrilled if you leave bright red hand prints on her back after she spent all that money on a strapless dress.

Have you ever had a hug go wrong? What happened?

I Was Here - Lady Antebellum (Brice Williams)

My Life

Guys. My life is the BEST. Like are you kidding me?!?! it's soo amazing! i can't even begin to express my gratitude for all the great people in my life and the blessings i have, there are too many to count!! i just love it. I don't feel like it's fair with all the hardships people have and how i feel so lucky. Sure i have hard times but overall i'm pretty darn happy with everything that's happened to me.

i just had to say that. I was laying in bed thinking about it and couldn't live with myself if didn't express it right here and now.

I still love Lady Antebellum. They say what i would say right now but wayyyy better.

Have You?

Have you ever posted a blog while waiting for your spaghetti water to boil? Did you know that even though i eat it almost everyday i still don't know how to spell spaghetti?Have you ever done it at midnight? Did you know that i'm doing all of this RIGHT NOW? Well...now you know. Yay for us.

K, today was a great day. I was busy and i got stuff accomplished. this alway makes me feel good even though i think i'm totally LAZY sometimes. Then i hung out with so many people that i think are the coolest ever. People make me happy. At least like 98% of them. Really though, somehow people just satisfy me ( i'm not a cannibal). I don't have a particular hobby or skill that makes me feel good about myself. It's the people that i have myself spend time with that really make me come home smiling. We don't have to do anything exciting or crazy to make me feel...fulfilled.

That happened today, i walked from my car to the garage and just smiled. Just because i was happy. it was a nice happy. not one that made me go bizerk screaming. Just smiling. It was a peaceful sortof calm happy. i enjoyed it.

Gotta go, my water is boiling.

Are You Ready For This

Yup. This post has lots to do about sleeping. Again. Deal with it.

Ya know those times when you're sooo tired but just too happy to sleep? I'm having one of those times. Life really is awesome. I just got back from Girls Camp then Student Council Camp and today was FANTASTIC! Girls camp was the most fun/spiritual experience everrr. I LOVED YCL'ing my Montecito(sp?) ward girls. They were the cutest things evaa and even better were Macey, Riley, and Callie for doin' the dirty work with me ;) Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em.
THEN straight to Student Council camp. All i can say is CRAZZZZY. But soooo worth it. Jam packed with inspiring activities and speakers then full out insane partying. Now, that's my kind of week. I met some AMAZING people who i will never forget and am definitely a better person because of those people. I love people. They make me happy. I would post pictures of StuCo Camp...but my computer is being lame...anyways.

TODAY was also wonderful. I got to sleep in to 11 o'clock. It was heavenly. Then i got to go see HP7 with my awesome friend Brad and his family + my girl Morgan. They are some of my favorite people in the world. I don't know what i would do without those 2. HP7 totally rocked btdubs. I won't give anything away, however...sorry! After Harry Pottering it up, we went to our friends surprise b-day party! Now that was one fun night! For many reasons :)

Well, there's my life. Maybe i can go to sleep now...maybe?

Sleeping...?

I wish sleeping was optional. Just a hobby that the majority of the world does at night. I wish that sleeping was something that most people need, but there is a special few that can live without it. Like how some people need glasses and some don't. I could be one of those that could live without it, just because i live without it anyway.

That's not fully true, once i'm asleep...i can sleep for a loooong time. It just takes me a loooong time to fall asleep. Which is happening right now. Which is why i am blogging about it. At least i can try to catch the swirling thoughts and put them down on something substantial. Somewhere that i can look at them and not just think about them.

I think too much.

Sleeping baby= CUUUUTE!

P.S. I didn't draw this. I wish I did, but i'm not that good...yet?

SUMMER.

I LOVE JOSEPH SMITH!! Seriously, i don't know who i would be without this guy. And let me tell you, NOBODY EVER would sacrifice as much as he did for some crap he made up when he was a hormonal teenager. It wasn't just him either, he had followers out the wazoo. not really, but enough to convince me! Him and Emma...i idolize them.

Sacred Grove, anyone? just let me tell you, there's a reason why it's called Sacred. i can't even try and explain it...it was just too amazing. I LOVE WASHINGTON DC! i'm crazy patriotic now it's insane. ;)

MUSIC

I LOVE MUSIC.

It's just so fantastic.

Holy crud.

SO fantastic.

I sang in an East Valley Mormon Choral Organization (EVMCO) Amazing Grace concert this past weekend. Guess what? it was FANTASTIC :) Singing is not something i've always loved. I did when i was little, but then life just fizzled that out and I only sang in church. This year i decided to do MVT choir which led me to EVMCO. BEST decision EVER. I got to stand on those risers by a bunch of amazing people with the same goal as me. We worked for months on songs with the sole purpose to praise our Lord and that thought filled me with joy. We sang for thousands, but even if it only touched one heart...it would still be worth it. It was something that was fulfilling. Something that was worthwhile. Something i'll be able to remember fondly.

I'm sad it's over. But i can't wait till it starts again! Even though next year is going to be crazy busy, i'm definitely still making time for our Thursday night rehearsals. Good music is God given, and i plan on never taking it for granted.

"If thou art merry, praise the Lord with singing, with music, with dancing, and with a prayer of praise and thanksgiving."--D&C 136:28

Renewed.

The Atonement. What does it mean to you?

Because, it means everything to me. And i'm not exaggerating. Through it i can be saved. Through it i can be clean. Through it i can progress and fulfill my life's purpose. I'm here for a special reason. A reason i could never comprehend or figure out without my ability to repent and have a change of heart. Which is given to us through Christ's Atonement.

People...are people. They aren't perfect. They let us down. We let others down, too. We make mistakes. COUNTLESS MISTAKES. There is no friend or relative that we can always count on, without fail, all the time, everyday. Yes, we have people that can MOST of the time, but when it comes down to it...only Christ and Heavenly Father are the perfect friends. They are my Best Friends.

I am eternally grateful for my Best Friends, the Godly ones, and the human ones. I'm grateful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. I know it's true. I'm grateful for trials. I'm grateful for the scriptures. I'm grateful for all of the prophets, ancient and modern. I'm grateful for the countless opportunities that i have. I love my life. I love you.

What are you grateful for?

At Least..

Sorry, i feel like i haven't posted a real post in a while. Sure my last one was only about a week ago, but it was just a quote ( an AWESOME quote, but it still wasn't mine).

Wanna know a secret?

It's because i have nothing to write. I hate it.

I miss the 3 months where i wrote a poem every night and felt good about it. I try to write them now, but they just haven't been coming out the same. It's okay though, they'll come. I'm simply being impatient.

Wanna know another secret? K, it's not really a secret...it's probably pretty obvious. I'M TIRED. All the time. I want school to be over. I want to sleep for 6 months straight. I'm done with trudging through the motions. Wake up late. Rush to school. 1st hour.2nd hour.3rd hour. 4th hour. 5 hour. 6th hour. Go home. Do nothing. Sleep. Repeat.

That sounds super depressing. But only a part of me really thinks that way. The rest of me has automatic backfires to everything i just said. Like : I got more sleep! At least I got to school on time still! At least i get to go to school at all. At least i enjoy everyone in StuCo. At least math is bearable. At least...chemistry...never mind. At least Seminary is the highlight of my day. At least i love my companion. At least i get an hour out of school to feel the Spirit and relax. At least I'm having fun learning choreography for the Rock&Roll Review. At least English isn't completely boring. At least...and by this time i realize that all the blessings i have outweigh my drugeries by miles. How can they not? I have SOOO much to be grateful for.

We all do. We just got to look first.

Just a Thought

Not my own thought, but it's a good one.

What is the quality of your intent?

Certain people have a way of saying things that shake us at the core. Even when the words do not seem harsh or offensive, the impact is shattering. What we could have been experiencing is the intent behind the words. When we intend to do good, we do. When we intend to do harm, it happens. What each of us must come to realize is that our intent always comes through. We cannot sugarcoat the feelings in our heart of hearts. The emotion is the energy that motivates. We cannot ignore what we really want to create. We should be honest and do it the way we feel it. What we owe to ourselves and everyone around us is to examine the reasons of our true intent.

My intent will be evident in the results.

Be careful for what you wish for, because guess what? Sometimes...they come true.
That's all i have to say on that subject.

I've Been Thinkin'..

I love deep conversations. The one's that I come away from and feel...full. Like I just added some substance to my soul. I love the conversations that make me think about ideas i've never considered. I love the conversations that remind me of why i love those people so much. I love conversations with people that understand where i'm coming from. I love the conversations that matter. Not the ones filled with idle worry and boring chatter to just fill the air with something and anything. I also love listening to people that have thoroughly thought out what they are saying, have a point, and have real truth backing them up. I love conversations that leave me thinking.

This year, i (stupidly) decided to take regular English classes. First semester was a joke. This semester, however, has seemed to make a greater impact on me. I've written a couple essays, had vocab and reading and all that good stuff. That's all just fine and dandy, but there's been differences between this semester and last. This semester I have Mr. Bonjour. This semester I have P of E 1.

Mr. Bonjour is a short bald man that finds great pleasure in his dry humor. (I guess i can relate to him because my humor is as dry as an Arizonian Summertime). He likes to single kids out and sometimes mildly embarrass them in front of the class. Oh, and every once in awhile he'll go off on random tangents about his childhood. Fun, no? Well, it sounds like a "no", but i disagree. Not with how i described him earlier, but with it not being fun. OK, ok...somedays i almost fall asleep (it's 6th hour, what can i say?), but it's the other days that i simply love.
You see, what i did not relate to you was that Mr. Bonjour is a master at deep thinking. He's read a bajillion books, i swear. It's not only that he just reads books though, it's that he reads the right ones and actually understands them. He just thrives off of knowledge and learning. His idea's are profound and have solid foundations. He will take full class periods to just discuss ideas about specific area's of life.

For instance, this happened today. We were supposed to do stuff for a short story he gave us, just the normal Englishy stuff. Except, he started on the Englishy stuff, then somehow segued into his "deep thinkyness". Today's topic was "greatness". According to him, it takes at least 10,000 hours of work at any given thing to become truly "great" at it. He gave it 4 levels, where you're 1.) competent at it 2.) pretty good at it 3.) Excellent 4.) GREAT. One of his examples were the Beatles. Can anyone really disagree? They were amazing and have lived as legends since. To him, the Beatles had achieved "greatness" at music. He then talked about the downside of achieving "greatness". One of those was pride, which basically is the fall of mankind. Then, he said greatness at one thing can make you lose focus of other things that are important to you. That made me think of professional athletes. Some of them are pure talent and hard work, I believe that a few of them deserve to be called Great. But the downfall that some of them eventually have could be cheating on their wife and all the crap that comes with it. But, then he posed the idea: what if you could become Great at one thing that helped you become great at other things? My example of that was Motherhood. If you were a Great mother that would mean becoming great at A LOT of different things. Like organizing, compassion, service, hard work, loving others, teaching, being an example, keeping a level head, and everything that comes from raising children. I think that becoming Great at being a parent could possibly be the most worthwhile thing out there. I owe a lot of who i am today to my parents. And i will strive to be Great at being a mom, so that my kids can say that about me someday too.

People

They make me Happy.

Seriously. They just do.

Life was not meant to be lived alone. I think alone time is essential, but only in small quantities.
When i'm old...and if my husband dies...i think i'll live in a nursing home. Seriously. i would. Because then....i COULD PLAY BINGO!!!! Gotta love bingo.

So, let's enjoy the people we have while we have 'em. Who knows how long they're gonna be here, right?
